Article: A Gin Ponce! What's that?

Une Ponce de Gin ! C'est quoi donc ça ?

A Gin Ponce! What's that?

Often propelled to the forefront by our grandparents when it comes to "natural" healing, "PONCE de GIN" brings us sweet moments of comfort to counter the winter cold. Whether returning from a day outdoors with friends or by a fireplace at the chalet watching the snowflakes fall, these simple drinks are essential winter drinks!

Here is a very simple recipe to concoct and enjoy, courtesy of the SAQ magazine " Le goût de partager " .

To relieve the winter flu, what could be better than a good old remedy from my grandmother like a Gin pumice! Although our ancestors will say that the original recipe requires big gin like De Kyper, I much prefer to use a GIN that offers a more delicate and aromatic taste like, Ungava, Canopée or even Ginius, make it yourself with its golden color, its aromas of juniper, chamomile, rosemary, cardamom and slightly spiced with Allspice.

Assemble:
• 2 ounces of gin (60 ml)
• 2 tsp honey
• ¼ tsp cloves / or pinch of nutmeg
• 1 freshly squeezed lemon
• 1 slice of fresh lemon
• 1 cup of boiling water

Mix:

Pour the dry gin, lemon juice, and honey into a mug. Add the clove or a pinch of nutmeg. Fill the mug with boiling water, let it steep for a few minutes, and enjoy!

The cold disappears immediately, but the festivities begin!

Thanks to the SAQ for sharing this old-fashioned but always appreciated winter recipe with us!
